IJN Destroyer Shiranui "不知火" 1940, Pit Road 1/700
Today I am uploading a 1/700 model of an IJN destroyer Shiranui, the second ship of the Kagero Class. This is based on a kit of the Kagero (pre-war), which is a Pit-Road product and includes etchings. IJN Shiranui has an intense war history, which impressed me quite a lot, but the main reason why I chose this ship among 19 sisters was because there are many relatively clear photos of her remained. By referring to these photographs, I tried make it as close to the true appearance as possible. This kit from Pit Roads is said to have been developed in conjunction with Flyhawk, and probably the best Japanese destroyer kit in this scale. Thanks to this kit, I can enjoy the graceful pre-war shape of Shiranui on my desktop.
Excellent work on this. Love the very realistic water effect.
Fantastic job, Naoki!
Well done, Naoki
If Ii didn't know any better I'd think it was a real ship! Very well done.
Excellent work as usual.
A very impressive realization of a Kagero class ship. The detailing is stunning.
This is truly amazing, Naoki@yamanaka
Especially by looking at the scale, the details are incredible.
Well done.
Amazing work, Naoki! A very realistic looking build.
Another awesome ship, Naoki. The crew and rigging are amazing.
Very nice work!
This looks amazingly realistic!
Thank you for your many warm comments. Ship models, especially in 1/700th scale, require a lot of work and patience to complete. To be honest, there are times when I feel like giving up halfway through, but the joy I get when it is finished is priceless. It seems that there are many aircraft enthusiasts on this site, and of course I focus on aircraft too, but I do hope that everyone here enjoys ship modelling even more. Thank you all.
