Kinetic and AMK: 1/48 Kfir C2
I present here two Kfirs C2. The one is from Kinetic (No. 861) and the other by AMK (No. 874)
When Kinetic and AMK Kfir kits are compared, some points are worth mentioning;
AMK kit is better engineered and is easier to build than the Kinetics kit.
- Both models have finely engraved panel lines where the Kinetic kit has the panels and access hatches more refined.
- Drop tanks of the Kinetic kit cannot be used as they are not to scale.
- Cockpit features of both kits are basic, but are hardly noticed even when the model is presented with an open canopy.
- Decal quality of both kits is excellent with a slight edge to the Kinetic kit. AMK kit though, has additional stencils that appeared on some Kfirs.
- The fit of parts is very good. However, the soft edges of the Kinetic kit parts require putty work to eliminate seamlines.
- Engine intakes are difficult to attach properly in both kits. Solution: Deviate from the instructions and attach the intakes to the separated fuselage halves.
- The same process can be applied to the nose cone to ensure a smooth attachment.
- Wind screen part of the Kinetic kit is problematic.
More Delta goodness, Rafi! Nice work. I have an AMK kit in the stash to be built soon. I actually saw a Kfir flying over our beach at Fort Morgan, Alabama a couple of months ago. It was operated by a civilian adversary/threat contractor.
Thank you John.
Nice to hear that Kfirs are still flying.
A fantastic pair, each one being excellent in its own manner, Rafi!
Congratulations!
Thank you Spiros!
A beautiful set of Kfirs, Rafi @blackmopane
Well done.
Thank you John.
Yep - those a beauties! Paint and weathering are fantastic. I never noticed that blue/green shade of the Israeli missiles (Python 3's ?) - what color is that? Are they always that color or is that just an option?
Thank you Greg.
It seems that early Python 3 were painted light blue and later were painted different shades of grey.
That is a pair of fine looking fighters. Thanks for the brief on the two kits as well - Cheers
Thank you kindly.
Great results yet again Rafi, I think 874 was the only Kfir to score an air to air victory?
Thank you Neil.
This is correct. The only air victory by a Kfir occurred in 27 of June 1979 when a Syrian Mig-21 was downed with a Shafrir air to air missile.
