1/48 Dornier Do 217N-1

October 23, 2024 · in Aviation · · 10 · 265

Probably the toughest conversion I ever made. A Promodeler Do-215E was combined with Koster Conversion set. the latter consists of vacuformed, white metal, resin and etched parts. I put the model to rest during the conversion after attaching the nose and engine vacuformed parts. A big sigh of relief when the construction was completed.

  1. It turned out pretty good. Flying Pencil? More like flying Platypus with that nose.
I think I understand why this conversion would be so tough. Man, that PE radar must have been difficult to attach and avoid breaking all those delicate bits off.

  2. Absolutely fantastic, Rafi! What a conversion!
    The final result looks amazing!

  3. Marvelous effort and a great-looking final product! That is one complex radar array! I will avoid doing that in 1/72 at all costs!

  4. That’s a nicely finished, complex project. Well done, Rafi.

  5. That conversion turned out really nice, Rafi @blackmopane
Clearly not an easy task to build this one and to maintain it.
