1/72 RAF Mustang Mk.III (P-51C) Vanity Call Letters
Inspired by a previous post, I searched for an aircraft with call letters ‘G-A-S' and found this P-51C with 112 Squadron RAF. There's actually a ‘J' required for my complete initials as I do have two middle names, always a challenge when purchasing an airline ticket.
The kit is HobbyBoss 80243 which is a decent kit with nicely recessed panel lining and is an ‘EASY-Build' kit; however, ‘Easy Build' doesn't mean ‘Fool Proof' as I realized too late that I assembled the propeller backwards and had to slice off each blade and position them properly with drilling and 0.02” brass shafts. There was also some filler needed in the lower engine area and the rear rad exhausts. I repositioned the antenna and added a top gas cap. The canopy seems a tab bit too narrow, but still looks okay in place, kit provides a Malcolm Hood option if desired. There is no glass insert on the port side gun camera, so I just painted the shape with Testors Chrome.
According to Scalemates, this kit has been issued by other companies, Doyusha and Squadron Products.
After Spray Can Tamiya Primer and some preshading, main camo paints used Tamiya XF-62, XF-53 and XF-19 along with Tamiya Red and Yellow. Decals were from the Arma Mustang kit, very nice decals with worked very nicely with Micro Set/Sol. Panel lining accented with Tamiya also. All finished with MicroScale 50/50 mix of Satin and Flat.
Posted photo from Wiki shows Aircraft FB328, with related antenna position and underwing insignia placement related to underwing pitot tube - whew!
Kit supplied armament to be added later.
Thanks for looking.

Too many of my favorite things all delivered in a single model: 1/72, fast-back Mustang, sharks-mouth, and Brit camo scheme. Wonderful build!
Very nice oddly initialled Mustang.
Excellent job and really great result, George!
That’s a sharp little Mustang, George. Med based RAF stuff is always interesting.
Great looking build George! The paint scheme and shark mouth makes this an eye catching build.
This is a beautiful build, George @georgeswork
Especially consider the scale of this kit.
Great! I like simple kits that looks good!
Great job, George.
Great kit, great scale, great build!
