1964 Pontiac GTO "Barn Find"

January 14, 2025 · in Automotive · · 22 · 212

Here is my first build of 2025! The GTO "Barn Find" for a customer in Ohio.

This is an old kit, not the best, not the worst, pretty straight forward build, this build is all about the barn find look. I imagined stumbling upon this car tucked away in an old barn undisturbed for decades with no major rust or dents to fixed, just a unmolested stock GTO waiting to be dusted off and put back on the road.

This kit took about 30 hours to complete, mostly painting and . Check out all my builds at: http://www.thepopeofplastic.com

  1. That would be a great find, and that's a cool model! 😃 Very nice, Rick! 👏

  2. Excellent job, Rick!

  3. Very nice weathered GTO, Rick!

  4. Growing up in Southern Delaware barn finds like this were not uncommon. In 1980 a buddy found a 62 Fairlane in a barn. It looked rougher than this though. Cool build. Brings back memories of a 16 year old me.

  5. Great start to 2025, Rick, keep them coming.

  6. Nice weathering job. And the under hood details are first rate!

  7. This is really beautiful, Rick @rickschad
The weathering done on this barn stored car is very realistic.

  8. Well done on the barn find, Rick. The appearance brings back the memory of growing up in dairy farm country. I can almost smell the manure, feed and hay.

  9. Speaking for myself (and every grease monkey with a reality show on Netflix), I would DIE to encounter a barn find like this one, needing only a wash and vac-out, no critter nests to clear. Thanks for the happy dream, 'Pope'!

  10. I love that old monogram kit. One of their best for the times it was offered. Great realistic result.
