Kitty Hawk 1/32 T-6 Texan SAAF
The iconic Harvard received much attention in South Africa. While restored aircraft are adorned with bright red colors, service aircraft were baking under the hot African sun and showed considerable bleaching of the orange painted areas. Notably, markings and national insignia retained a fresh paint look.
Kitty Hawk's Texan is a highly detailed kit, but presents a challenging build. Wide gates that connect the parts to the sprue trees and fit issues complicate the build. Nonetheless, the looks of the completed model is worth the build effort.
Awesome job on the challenging Kitty Hawk Texan, Rafi!
Congratulations!
Thank you, Spiros!
Gorgeous work love the weathering!
Steve,
Thank you, Steve.
Nice work. Love the weathering.
Thank you, Robert.
Rafi, you met the challenges and overcame the obstacles. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a wow.
Thank you, Russell!
Oh man, that is a top-rate effort replicating that sun-bleaching effect! Fantastic work.
Thank you, Greg.
A wonderful result out of this challenging kit, Rafi @blackmopane
The bleached orange color looks very realistic.
Thank you, John.
Great lob of matching that weathered paint look - looks like the photos! I built that kit awhile back. my biggest gripe was the canopy.

Thank you, Chas.
The big gates also stalled the build process. Kitty Hawk's (new distributer) loss.
Glad you persevered on this to finish it, Rafi. Mine ended up on the Shelf of Doom and then didn't "make the cut" to be put in the Box O' Doom and make the move to the new house.
Excellent work on this and you sure got the "look" right.
Thank you, Tom!
I gave up on the bulge in front of the cockpit for this particular aircraft.
