RAF Mustang III 1944, Arma Hobby 1/72
Today, I'm posting about a 1/72 Mustang III from Arma Hobby. I tried to recreate an aircraft as it appeared in early 1944 when it was deployed with the RAF's No. 19 Squadron. As you all know, this Mustang B/C type kit from Arma Hobby is the best, and aside from some minor thinning work, it remains almost entirely as it is from the kit. I've chosen the QV-H of No. 19 Squadron, because there is a famous clear photo depicting its simple but elegant paint scheme.
The most challenging part was the decals; to achieve my preferred paint scheme, I had to purchase and gather decals from multiple old Mustang kits. Particularly, the decals from Hasegawa's kits had deteriorated over time and became fragile, making it difficult to place them accurately, which was frustrating. Nevertheless, thanks to this excellent kit from Arma Hobby, I'm delighted to have a tiny Mustang III that fits in the palm of my hand.
Great work on this. The Arma kit really is best in q1/72. but if what I have from Eduard in 1/72 for their P-51Ds is any indication, Arma is going to get a run for their money when Eduard releases their 1/72 P-51B/C.
Thank you for your comments. I agree that Eduard's P51D looks like a great kit and hope to have P51 B/C kit as well. For modelers, their competition is a dream come true, isn't it? Our obligation may be to purchase (not necessarily build) more of their kits to keep them financially viable...
An impressive result, Naoki @yamanaka
Hard to believe this is 1/72 scale.
Great images as well.
Nicely done Naoki.

Nicely done, Naoki.
A real beauty! I need to get one of these in my stash asap!
Very nice. I’m planning to start this kit this weekend!
Thank you all for your heartwarming comments‼ I'm still learning, but I'm using this site as a reference and trying various things through trial and error. Next, I'm thinking of making something at 1/48 scale...
