1/144 Airbus A220-100.

April 1, 2025 · in Aviation · · 10 · 121

This is a fairly recent kit from . The A220 started life as the Bombardier C-series. purchased Bombardier's aircraft division and put the C series into production as the A220. It's become a fairly popular 5 seat across airliner. The kit represents the short fuselage -100 variant which has only been purchased by Swiss and Delta airlines. The longer -300 is used by a much more extensive list of operators. I had the opportunity to fly a segment on Delta airlines that operated one of these and found it to be a pleasant experience. The plane also stands out on airport tarmacs in the ever present crowd of A319s, 737s, and those God awful E175s. It's a sharp design. Airbus builds these at plants in Mirabel, Canada and right across the bay from me in Mobile, Alabama.

The kit was a surprisingly pleasant model to build. It's a short run kit but everything fits after a little bit of cleanup. The decals are from the kit and performed well too. The only thing I really added were wing walk lines from the decal dungeon. They came from an old A330 sheet. I finished it with Tamiya lacquers and Humbrol enamels. Thanks for looking and keep on building!

  4. Excellent build of this sleek aircraft! Well done.

  5. Having had a pleasure to fly on one of these Swiss 220s, it had become my favorite regional airliner. And yeah, I share your view on E175 family.

Great job on this kit - I might just add one to my collection - -100 will be used by Croatia airlines as well, along with -300s.
