Focke Wulf Fw190 A-8 “Winter Camouflage”, 1/72 Academy

December 14, 2017 · in Aviation · · 14 · 5.7K

Good morning colleagues
Well, this is my first time built aircraft model with using airbrush. this brand new toy is really magical thing to me and I'm hanging all of my after work time with it until late.

So, I passed last 3 years of my short modelling experience with out airbrush. Now having this tool, I'm doing to try every color scheme which never applicable (or very hard to) without using airbrush. first of that list, here's the winter camo of Fw190

It was hard to choose of Fw190 between 's and Airfix's new tool. Academy's one was only 5 dollars (vantage from origin country) and quality is not bad at all. Airfix's new one has best quality and It's box art of Hungarian Winter Camouflage was really awesome! So, I picked chipper one and made with Winter Scheme 😀

First I painted the common two-tone german camo scheme with tamiya's acrylics, and I washed and weathered. after semigloss coat I painted white camo lines by freehand with enamel colors. because it's easy to remove partially with cotton swab.

I put some dirts over landing gear thinking of runway in late winter condition.

Thanks for following!

  1. Nicely finished, sir...even more so in that "small-ish" scale. 🙂

  2. VERY well done, Herr Choi!

  3. Great job on that winter camouflage! First time airbrush? Wow!

  4. Nice paint job, looks like you've got the hang of the airbrush already.

  5. Fantastic! I love to see such detailed work in 1/72 (my scale). I'm now finally toying with making the hyper-jump into airbrush space - still haven't bitten the bullet yet, but I'm headed in that direction...!

    • Well, if you are heading to one direction then one day, so suddenly, you'll meet your chance..! in my case one of my colleague just dumped me his never used whole airbrush set... with compressor, booth, all paint and tools included! sometimes it happens..!

  6. Nicely done Hongseob.

  7. This is a very hard paint scheme to do in 1/48 scale, much less in 1/72nd. You have captured the look of it very well. I like it my friend...
