Fw-190S-8 (conversion) – 1/32 Hasegawa

March 2, 2018 · in Aviation · · 8 · 2.5K

This is the assembled test shot (and only example) of the drop-fit Fw-190S-8 resin conversion for the Fw-190A-8, created by the amazing Dave Thompson (test shot built by me). The former President of the Erie PA Hells Angels, and a Vietnam combat veteran of the 101st Airborne, Dave was one of the great modelers ever (He used to scare h e l l out of people who didn't know him, rumbling up to a model show in full colors on his Harley chopper). Dave created amazing models, including a Revell 1/32 Ju-87B converted to a Ju-87C with folding wings that worked, among many other incredible models. Scale modeling lost one of the True Masters the night he died of a heart attack back in 2006.

  1. Great build Tom, you don't see many FW 190 trainers in 1/32 scale.

  2. As a fellow biker and modeler, I salute your eulogy to Dave and hope he's rolling on, still.

  3. Excellent conversion work...nice job on that, TC.

  4. I've never seen one of these. Kind of strange looking compared to the standard versions! VERY well done, Tom.

  5. Fantastic Top Notch professional build. U nailed it!

  6. That’s an interesting conversion. I’m really surprised nobody has ever done mainstream 2 seat 190s or 109s. Thanks for sharing, Tom.

  7. Dave Thompson sounds like an interesting guy. Another great looking 190.

  8. Interesting to be reminded 13 years later of Dave. I think the absolute best part of having arrived at the position of fame (or infamy) I have in this hobby has been the opportunity to know and be friends with some of the most amazing people on this planet. (That includes pretty much everyone - there are a few exceptions - here at the World's Best Modeling Club.)
