Spitfire FR.Mk.XIVe, 451 Squadron, RAAF.
Obviously a popular subject, judging by earlier postings. I had earmarked the two Xtradecals offerings some time before the kit's release, hoping that a pleasant surprise was not too far away. Maybe it is not too much to hope that Airfix might bring out a kit of the earlier, hi-back version? In the meantime, I have another of these to build; this time with the normal wingtips & broad chord rudder; maybe as a Mk.18.
I did use some alternative parts: Quickboost resin exhausts, Eduard seat belts & Hasegawa four slot wheel hubs; otherwise out of the box. Paints used were Tamiya 81, 82, 83.
Hope you like it.
Excellent work, Tony! We’ve had British, Canadian, and Indian planes built from this kit. Now you’ve given us an Australian example. Great choice.
Thanks John. There's plenty more marking choices left on the decal sheets.
Another beauty, Tony...nice build ! 🙂
Thanks Craig.
🙂 … Greetings … 🙂 :
Nice work on this model Tony, your weathering is very well done and your extra details really show. I am not seeing another Spitfire, I am seeing a machine and the looks, again … nice work.
Many thanks! Glad you like it.
Good job, Tony! And next time somebody will announce new Spitfire kit we definitely should have a group build!
Thanks Dmitry. I'll be in that.
Beautiful work, Tony. I have this kit in my stash. It's a great model and you've done a great job with it!
Thanks Jeff. You'll enjoy building this one.
Nice work !
Thank you Dale.
Beautiful work (again)!
The full range is guaranteed for release. There are holes in the lower wings for rockets (FR 18), the wing is scored to be able to cut out the guns and a wing plug is on the sprue (Race 80), and they'd have to be out of their minds not to do the "high back" (which will come out last because it will sell the most - since modelers love the airplanes with the most "bang! bang!")
Many thanks Tom. I love "Race 80", so I'll look forward to more of these.
Nice Spitfire! I'm liking the Griffon Spits more and more.
Thanks Robert. This was an enjoyable build & I have another to do. Can't resist them!
Great build, good to see an Aussie scheme on such a wonderful aircraft.
Thanks Haslam.
Very nice addition to the rash of Spits we've seen posted lately! Well done.
