Armored Austro-Hungarian Romfell car, 1915

December 31, 2020 · in Armor · · 13 · 3.3K

My last build for 2020:
Armored Austro-Hungarian Romfell car, 1915. Only a few prototypes were built because some generals and the emperor Franz Joseph I thought that thing would scare the horses during a war...

So better to push your innovative ideas forward even though you feel resistance ?

I really enjoyed this accurate model. Nice quality sprues, excellent documentation, and original models. I will definitely build other models from this dynamic Latvian company.

  1. The cool factor on this is over the top. It looks like a steam punk hot rod. Well done!

  2. Very nice job on this and it is a very nice kit.

  3. Unique model exquisitely made, congrats and thanks for sharing it

  4. What an amazing build, Alex!
This is a really unique subject!
    I love it!
    Congratulations and Happy New Year!

  5. Damn it! Why can't I build and paint like that? What a beautiful job and display. Simple, elegant and interesting. I really love your paint and weathering, with a little photoshop back round I have no doubt you could fool people that it was a real vehicle! Excellent!

    • Many many thanks for your great comment, Walt. Much appreciated and it provides me the motivation to build more models for 2021, hopefully as nice as this one 🙂

  6. Beautiful work on a very original subject.

I may be wrong, but I think they're Latvian - I'm married to a Lithuanian and they don't have Lithuanian names.

  7. Fun Fact about the Romfell, this first production design was rejected for being suitable for military purposes due to it frightened the horses! Haha I've got the kit in the stash I'm going to try get a couple of spooked hoses for in a diorama! When you search the vehicle you will find the short taller boxed version that went in to production instead of the ww1 batmobile as I call it haha! Looks fantastic great work!
