MiG-19PM Heller 1/72
Another model completed which was started in the last century and was pulled out of storage.
Checking the web, this Heller kit No 251 was probably released in 1979, with the initial release in 1973.
Considering the age, I think Heller did a nice job capturing the lines of the MiG-19 which I personally do not find very appealing.
Having all those rivets didn't help much when applying the decals.
I found that MiG-19 "335" actually had NMF with solid numbers during its active service, being retired in 1969 and serving as gate guard at Preschen until 1980.
Without digging too deeply, web photos indicate no cannons with AA-1 (K-5) Alkali missiles - which would make it a MiG-19PM.
Camouflage was only applied after 1980 when "335" was transferred to the Berlin Gatow museum.
Camo scheme was referenced from 'Print-Scale' Decals with segmented '335' numbering, painted with Tamiya Acrylics XF-52 & XF-59 and Model Master RLM65 and finished with Micro-Satin.
Decals were a mix of spares leftover.

For the time that this kit was released, I agree with you that Heller did a nice job capturing the lines of a Mig 19. Your overall work and finish made this build look really nice, great job!
Thanks Bob,
I like the two-tone camo scheme, I was afraid the NMF would show my sanding mistakes.
Very nice, George.
This scheme really suites this plane and you perfectly applied it.
Great work on that oldie.
Thanks John,
Glad I got this one finally completed.
Great work on that. I remember thinking it was crude when I built it around ‘79 or ‘80. Butt join stabilizers, right?
Thanks John,
you are correct - the only alignment hole/tabs were on the landing gear.
The tanks the missile mounts and stabs only had outlines for placement.
Nice to see the last century’s kits George !
That is one nice Mig 19 Showing of its lines And paint. extraordinary jet. I did not realise how streamlined this machine really is Until now .
Beautiful work.
Thanks Bernard, I'm liking the MiG-19 the more I look at it.
Nicely done George, looks good in that scheme.
Thanks Allan.
Great result out of this oldie-sweetie Heller kit, George!
Nice scheme, as well, perfectly done! Cockpit looks good under the canopy, too!
Good that you pulled it out of storage and finished it.
Looks great! Nice finish for such an old kit - and in my favorite scale...
Nicely done!
Thanks gents (@fiveten , @gkittinger , @roofrat).
I just have a few more to go before all my ‘started’ kits are completed.
They are great practice and do look nice when completed.
