Monogram 1/48 OA-4M
Just recently off the bench is my rendition of the older but excellent Monogram 1/48 OA-4M in the two tone gray finish. I used Mr. Color paints and their semi-gloss for a final finish. Furball decals were also used and I cannot say enough good things about them. Their OA-4M Lo-Viz sheet is extensive and I see an A-4M coming off my build line in the future. I believe their are markings cover 14 A/C on their sheet. This is a bird from Cherry Point. No aftermarket used-out of the box. What a fine effort from Monogram. Thanks in advance for any comments.
Nice job on the OA-4M build and a fine selection of markings. I haven't seen a Monogram Skyhawk build lately, especially that OA-4M version. My compliments on your work.
Thank you Jim, much appreciated...
Great and clean build, Clark @clarkcook
Scheme is beautiful in those two tones.
Well done.
Thanks very much John. A challenging paint scheme as the 2 grays are so close in color.
Really great build, Clark!
good to hear that the Monogram kit still holds very well its own!
Hello Spiros-great fitting kit. The Monogram cockpit requires no aftermarket to look great. Thanks for your comments.
Great looking aircraft especially in this colour scheme, very well turned out.
Thank you George. It was a great kit to build.
I couldn't understand why they never took that kit and did the TA-4 original, also. But I'll bet their marketing department pointed out the sales records of models whose originals don't have "bang-bang."
Very nice effort here, I haven't seen one of these done in over 30 years. Good to see it still holds up.
Thank you Tom. Yep this kit is a sleeper for sure and one of the best by Monogram I have built over the years.
Nice work, Clark. That kit is becoming pretty rare these days.
Thanks John-agreed on the rarity-many of the old Monogram kits are bringing very high prices on EB.
Well, that looks great Clark! Man, I've had that kit in my stash since the late '80s/early '90s and have "played" with the parts many times, without actually building it. Thanks for the great inspiration; your work may finally encourage me to try the old kit! ?
Fit was excellent Gary, I used very little putty. I did use a spreader bar or two to get a tighter fit at the fuselage to wingroot joint. Also I had one hell of a time getting the rear exhaust tube in after the fuselage was put together. It is eccentric in design too.
I love old Revell and Monogram kits, Clark (@clarkcook), and they still build into great models. Your Skyhawk is awesome. Well done.
Thanks George-an excellent kit right out of the box.
Really great build Clark! Ypu should be really happy with it.
I was hoping that Furball would make a 1/32 set of the markings from that sheet for the Hasegawa 1/32 OA-4M. however, it not like Hasegawa has a demand for those kits...
Dan.
Hello Dan...I agree with you on the Hasegawa 1/32 kit. I have it in the stash and it could use new decals.
Looks great! This is the kit that got me back into modeling in the mid-80's - first one built since high school. Fond memories!
Thank you Greg. It is a great kit.
