REVELL 1/32 F4U-1A CORSAIR
JUST finished in time for Christmas, ( and the start of my Revell 1:32nd Tornado).
My son purchased this kit about a month ago, (along with a 350th Bismarck) and asked me to help him. This usually means "Can you do it for me dad?"
He decided he wanted the wings in a fixed position, which for some reason were a nightmare to glue (small contact points?, i don't know)
Anyway, he helped "a little", and left the rest to me...
Only my 2nd attempt at airbrushing an aircraft, camo lines were done free hand.
Paints used were from Vallejo, solvents for decals were Micro-Sol & Micro-Set.
I'm happy with the result, he's more than happy, ok, he's easily pleased.
No doubt i could have done more. maybe at a later date i'll add some more weathering and chipping, but the Tornado awaits...
Happy new year and MUCH MODELLING MADNESS to you all
You turned this old chestnut into a real winner.
Indeed a beautiful build, Tony @tonyanderton
An absolute winner.
Always nice to see a Corsair Tony. I'm thinking one young man is absolutely delighted to have it as his own.
That Revell Corsair is a fun build and has been around for a long time. You're certainly right about the outer wing panels being a challenge to mount securely. If you build another, some additional gluing area can be achieved by using some plastic strips between the wing center section and the outer wing panels. That was a fine choice of markings too. Thanks for sharing that Corsair build with us.
Oh man, I had this one when I was in high school, 40 years ago, wish I still had it! Looks awesome, Tony.
An excellent build out of this oldie of a kit, Tony!
Well done!
Nicely done!
