Panzerwaffe workhorse-Pzkw IV "F" model. Tamiya 1/35

October 21, 2022 · in Armor · · 9 · 0.8K

There's plenty of info out there on this one, so won't go hunting and pecking too much. Just suffice to say, this one was the load carrier of the Panzer divisions for most of the war. just came out with two "F" versions, long and short barrel, I got both of them, this one's first. Was looking at newsreels from the road to Stalingrad, during "Fall Blau" the 1942 Southern campaign, and figured I'd do a high-mileage traveler on the dusty Steppe roads. It's stock right out of the Tamiya box, using their new lacquer German grey in different shades, and covered in Mig pigments. The crew is also out of the box, painted with vallejo acrylics.

  1. I can just see those dusty steppes. Really nice work on this, particularly the weathering.

  2. Incredible build, Bill @billkoppos
Great weathering and great attention to the crew, they are a beautiful addition.
    Well done.

  3. As above , excellent work, weathering and all!

  4. Nice work, Bill. Do you paint the tracks before or after you install them?

    • After. I assemble as per directions, but in 2 halves.Top wraps around sprocket, bottom around Idler. Fit to model, return rollers and long runs and let dry. I paint them in halves. This way one can weather them all over, inside and out. Scrape the paint from contacting surfaces, including a couple of wheels then glue when all paint and dirt is on.

  5. Very good dust effects, Bill, definitely looks well travelled.

  6. Great work Bill! @billkoppos
I like how your dusty steppes look turned out. 👍🏼

  7. Excellent all over, Bill! Painting and weathering stand apart!
