My 1/12 scale GT-40
Here is my Trumpeter? 1/12 Scale GT-40! This kit was a lot of work with lots of scratch building involved, due to this kit was a toy in some form at one point. Kit on it's own is very simple so a lot of creativity is involved in getting her to look accurate. I did the best I can lol!
Hope you guys enjoy her.
A wonderful result, Rick! A vast departure from the at areas toy-ish Trumpeter kit.
Congratulations, this is a beauty!
Thanks my friend! It was a challenge!
Very nicely done. It's my 2nd favorite race car, after the 1966 Lotus Ford Indianapolis 500 winner.
Thanks so much Jeff! It was a fun build!
Amazing result, Rick, it would be interesting to compare it with the more recent Meng kit.
I’d like to see that as well! Thank you!
Great job! I always liked the GT40. I still have my Aurora HO and Matchbox GT40s
Just a beautiful car!
@rickschad - Fantastic build Rick! It looks like it just crossed the finish line after a truly grueling race.
That was my goal! Glad you like it 🙂 thank you!
Very nicely done, Rick @rickschad
The scratch building did clearly improve the looks of this GT.
May I assume that this build will be presented at the Rhode Island contest as well.
Thanks so much! Unfortunately as the host of the show I can’t enter ☹️
Beautiful work @rickshad, I really really love the weathering and dirt.
Thank you! That’s the fun part!
Wow, that’s an awesome job. Looks like it was rid hard and put up wet after a grueling race.
Thank you! That was my goal 😀
That is some excellent work, great building and weathering. It really looks like it has run a good race!
It won! Lol! Thanks!
That is a great looking model! The depth of the paint job is outstanding! I’m inspired!
That is a huge compliment, thank you!
What an amazing large-scale model Rick! 🍻 I've loved those Ford GTs in whatever configuration they've appeared, and once had the original GT, the Mk II and Mk IV models in 1/24-25th, circa 1967. Man, I wish I had taken care of those. Your model is a real beauty in those Gulf colors and looks a real race winner @rickschad! 🏆
Thanks Gary! I have always wanted to build a GT40 and when I saw this kit I just had to build it! It was a lot of fun !
Beautiful job! I had the pleasure of driving one of the Gulf Oil Le Mans cars after it came back to the States. My Dad worked for Gulf Oil and the company had the cars on tour around the country for promo purposes. I still have my Gulf Racing Team windbreaker after all these years. Once again, Great WORK!
Thank you! You are a very lucky man!
That's phenomenal mate! The weathering is spot on, it looks like it's done 24 hours in the rain.
And the materials in the interior look ultra realistic.
Model of the month!
Thank you! That’s a huge compliment! It was a fun labor of love!
