IJN Destroyer IKAZUCHI 1942 (Yamashita Hobby, 1/700)
Let me post a work of Japanese ship. Her name is Ikazuchi, which means simply "thunder" in a very traditional Japanese way. She was an IJN destroyer, the 23rd of the Fubuki class destroyers. The kit was provided by Yamashita hobby, a maker specialised in Japanese destroyers. I wanted to try Yamashita hobby's kit and found it was a well designed one. I hope it is available outside Japan. I have a special attachment to this particular destroyer because of its heart warming story in the middle of the Pacific war. In short, the captain of Ikazuchi rescued many British crew after the battle of Java Sea in 1942. I tried to recreate the day of this story.
That’s a great story, Naoki, and your model reflects the dramatic event very well.
Another great ship, Naoki. Your rigging is outstanding.
Amazing detailed work on such a small scale model.
Amazing work on such a small model. Not something I would think about, let alone attempt. Super result!
A wonderful result, Naoki!
Beautifully done, Naoki @yamanaka
A very nice and detailed Fubuki. Great work.
Thank you all for such encouraging comments. I will post more ships. Also since I joined this site, I have been inspired quite a lot about aeroplane models. I will try to post them, even though my aircraft models are even more amateur creations than my ship ones.
I love the sea and ships. That's a great job. Bravo
This is another beautiful ship build Naoki. Your ocean sculpting is outstanding.
Excellent model. 1/700 is too tiny for me for destroyers.
Excellent craftsmanship! @yamanaka
Thank you all for such encouraging comments! I like destroyers of both IJN and HMS very much.
They are truly hard working ships!
