Airfix 1/48 Defiant Mk.I
As a kid, the 1/72nd Airfix Defiant was a favorite model. Of all the models that I had, it was the closest to the aircraft represented. Plastic mold was black (and so was the pilot.) The years went by and I started painting the built models. My interest shifted to the large and multi colors Luftwaffe models.
To balance the flood of Luftwaffe models I chose the 1/48th Airfix Defiant. It is a quick build thanks to the relatively low count and overall good fit of parts. Black remained my preferred scheme. The real aircraft has massive rivet arrangement that does not appear in the larger scale kit. Yet, the black hides well the prickly texture and the appearance of the model is realistic enough.
Awesome result on this distinctively looking aircraft, Rafi!
Congratulations!
Thank you Spiros!
Nicely done Rafi. I need a black one to go with my green and brown
Thank you George.
Excellent model, with very interesting decals. Nice black finish

Thank you Djordje.
That's one of Airfix's better kits and you have done full justice to it.
Thank you Tom.
Well done, looks good in black.
Thank you Chas.
As a kid around 1973 or 74 this was the first model I was given ,in 1/72 of course, I built it with my mum (bless her) , we didn't know what to do with the decals so we cut them out and glued them on ! honestly !, but I loved it and ran around the house with it making machine gun noises dadadadad , life was so easy then wasn't it ?
Great work on this Rafi.
So many kits , so little time...
Thank you Neil.
Glued decals are good enough to make the right impression.
Looking good, Rafi. @blackmopane
