Tamiya Kawasaki Ninja H2R 1/12th
Here is my latest, Tamiya kit #14131,
Paints used AK Xtreme Duraluminum, Xtreme Chrome, Xtreme Stainless Steel, Mr Color Silver, Testors Metal Silver (the latter 2 Mainly used for screw/bolt heads)
I purchased a Harder & Steenbeck airbrush which turned out to be the most fantastic too I ever used. Before this I loathed airbrushing.
The engine block was done in the AK Duraluminum,
The green frame was done with a base coat of Tamiya Gloss black with an overlay of Tamiya Mice Silver, followed by an additional overlay of Tamiya clear green.
The brake and clutch reservoirs on the real bike were clear so I scratch built my own.
The front cowling consists of 32 decals in all, 9 underneath 23 on top, there are no side mirrors but instead tiny airfoils one on each side so when they are attached there is a total of 46 decals on it plus the metal badge. This procedure was a real challenge for me but i โborrowedโ a technique from โPlasmoโ off of YouTube and applied the decals with Walther's Solvaset and a hairdryer. I was amazed at the result. Not perfect but it changed how i will apply decals to complex angles and curves form now on.
And of course I had to build my own chain
There is a ton more details that I have added and you can see them all here https://imodeler.com/groups/motorcycles-854753595/forum/topic/tamiya-kawasaki-ninja-h2r-redo/?topic_page=1&num=15
Thanks for viewing, @bike-queen AKA Cricket
Fabulous. You are indeed the Queen of metal. That chain is like doing indy track links on a tank. Love the reservoirs and purple on the exhaust.
@billkoppos Thank you Bill!
@bikequeen Wonderful achievement. I dropped you some notes in your WIP as well. The details really sell it.
@coondog You da man Matt ;). Thank you
Excellent result, Cricket! What a wonderful model! Excellent build thread, too, a joy to follow.
Congratulations!
@fiveten thank you sir! I appreciate the comments and support ๐
Absolutely one of your best builds, Cricket @bikequeen
This is a fabulous Ninja. I loved following your build thread.
@johnb Thank you John! Iโm glad you enjoyed as much as i did ๐
Kawasakis are my favourite Japanese bikes, Cricket, and this is a wonderful example, it really shows off your ever expanding building techniques as well, happy modelling indeed.
@chinesegeorge thank you George I enjoyed it and enjoyed learning new stuff
I think this is your best one so far, Cricket (@bikequeen). You keep raising the bar with every build. Cool technique on your decals.
@gblair thanks again George. I think the bar is raised as far as I can get it. Itโs the Deatil up kits that give it the realism and they are very pricey. Also limited to what bikes they are for, But fun ๐
Well done, Cricket! Looks like a ride for the Mandalorian.
@gwskat LOL. Thank you Gary ๐
Even though I am not into bikes, all I can say is bloody marvellous, the build and write up just legendary. Well done.
@firelokckg Thank you sir! I appreciate you looking and your comments ๐
Superlative work. @bikequeen
