This is the well known Hasegawa kit. I originally bought it with the intention of doing a camouflaged German example using the excellent Victory Models German Starfighter decal set. When I realized that the kit’s “Boelcke Special” decals actually looked usable, I changed my mind. The white parts in the Hasegawa decals are actually white. They performed pretty well but are slightly translucent. At the end of the day I’m happy with it.
I used an Eduard PE set to dress up the ejection seats which are very visible under the large canopy. I built it closed because the parts fit almost perfectly and I wanted to preserve the unique lines of the 2 seat Starfighter.
The wings are designed to be fitted with tip tanks and are a couple MMs long in span. I chose to ignore this.
The paints are Mr. Color 80 and 34 blue mixed per the kit’s instructions with a Future gloss coat after decals.
This is the second Hasegawa F-104 that I’ve built and plan to do several more. I can’t resist a shiny jet!
