1/72 Tammy F4U-1D
Needed a bit of quick gratification, and it's Tamiya to the rescue. No surprises, great fit, adequate detail, what's not to like?
Finished in Tamiya Gloss Blue, the first coat was so shiny I had to semi gloss coat it so I could see the thin spots on the first coat. Second coat, decals, and another semi gloss layer were applied. I tried to give it a wash with my beloved Flory's but the wash disappeared on the shiny dark blue so that went out the window. Shiny coats show panel lines pretty well anyway.
My first blue airplane, this was a fun, zippy bit of a build I have perhpas a total of three and a half days in.
Awesome job on this lovely kit, Mark!
Well done!
Thank you brother
very nice!
Thank you sir
It looks great Mark! I have this in the stash, and now that I've built Academy's Corsair, I need to crack open this box. I haven't built a Tamiya kit in quite a while!
Thanks and yes you do everyone needs an easy one occasional
Absolutely wonderful, Mark @markh
Looks great in this dark blue scheme.
Applying a wash on a dark surface is not that easy.
Not if it's gonna be visible, anyway. I thought of using a lighter wash but figured it would not look right. Thanks for the nice comment sir
Nicely done Mark.
Thank you sir
Your blue Corsair should get a Blue Ribbon!
Nice looking quick build, Mark.
Thank you sir I had quite a bit of fun with this one
Great job, Mark. Looks like 1/48
Thanks brother this one made me start to eyeball the Tammy 1/32 offerings...one of those would surely take me longer that three and a half days
Well done - looks great!
