Wingnut Wings 1/32 Sopwith Pup RFC
Wingnut Wings Sopwith Pup boasts with excellent surface detail. Yet, since it is a bi-lane from WWI it requires comprehensive wiring for control cables, engine ignition wires, and fuselage bracing wires. Wings assembly is tricky. All the struts broke in my first attempt and I had no choice but, revert to epoxy glue. Wings alignment is critical and does not fall in place. The reason is probably an engineering error from combining fuselage ribs and secondary struts in one piece. The result, a significant tendency of wings not to align properly with the main struts. My solution was to separate struts in parts A19 and A17 for later attachment. Most RAC aircraft seem to had flattened bracing wires. Accordingly, I flattened copper wires to attain the desired wire style. Hence, it was more difficult to obtain a proper tension of wires during the rigging process.
Awesome!
Thank you Davide
Wonderful result. Perfect level of detail and great work on the rigging.
Thank you Matt.
Very nice Pup.
I used PE rigging in mine and it could have turned out better. I have tried EZ line on others and it isn't as easy as advertised. Almost ready to go back to fishing line.
Thank you Dan.
This was my last and final Wingnut Wings. (A review kit.)
The Pup is one of the first WNW releases, and like the other early releases, it does indeed have fit problems. Fortunately they learned as they went along. Your skill and talent got you a great result here.
If you want to do flat "RAF wires," you can get 0.2 X 0.3 wire from Albion Alloys.
Thank you Tom.
When WNW was in business, I was not prepared to pay so dearly for their kits.
What an awesome result, Rafi!
Congratulations!
Thank you Spiros!
Superb result, Rafi @blackmopane
Great recovery on the struts.
Thank you John.
Just as I was getting back into the hobby, WNW bailed out. Bummer. You pup looks darn good, you overcame the challenges it threw at you.
Thank you Greg.
Just sublime Rafi. Looks very good đź‘Ť
Thank you Guyl
A perfect Pup, Rafi, great work on the rigging.
Thank you George.
A great result with the Pup Rafi, well done. I think the challenges that WW1 aircraft throw at us are what make them such satisfying models to build.
Indeed, Ian. Thank you.
Beautiful work. I think he is perfect. Thumbs up.
Thank you Milan.
A beauty! You bent over backward with the flattened wire! Way more concern for accuracy that I would probably attempt!
Thank you Greg!
That's a good looking Pup!
Thank you Chas!
