Cyclops from the 7th Voyage of Sinbad
I remember seeing the 7th Voyage of Sinbad as a kid and loving the stop frame animation. The skeleton's he animated in a different film were pretty amazing as well. This vinyl model kit came out a couple years ago and sat on my shelf waiting for the scene to develop in my brain. Well, it took a while but here we are. I have a model of Sinbad that was downloaded from MyMiniFactory. I used 3ds Max to modify the model, I removed the original face, added my own in, I raised the arm and added the lamp. The base was pretty simple until it came to the Resin pour. It was one of the reasons this waited so long. Resin pours are scary. Fortunately this was a tiny resin pour and there were no issues at all. I used the small kit from AK and didn't quite use both bottles. The rippled water is another first, I used Mod Podge gloss and after glopping it on, thinned it with some water and hit it with air from my airbrush. It's a pretty convincing effect. The foam on the waves is done with Vallejo snow, also thinned with water to get the edge to blend nicely.

If you wouldn't have mentioned it, the LED wire was never noticed.
@johnb - Thanks John, this is one of my favorites so far. I don't think any normal human will ever notice the wire. Just funny, I had told myself not to forget to hit it with a little black paint before closing it up. It's definitely not visible when the LED is on.

Another subject that I know nothing about, Brian, but I can appreciate the modelling skills that went into it, really impressive.
@chinesegeorge - Thanks George, no worries on subject. Most of the friends I had as a kid never saw the movie either. Jason and the Argonauts was the one with the skeletons... Ray Harryhausen was a pioneer in stop frame animation and the process of combining it with live action. I think he did over a dozen creatures... Mighty Joe Young was his first feature in 1949...
Really excellent work to get this great diorama. Cricket's right - Ray would LOVE this.
