De Havilland Mosquito PR.XVI Airfix 1/72 25th Bomb Group Rcn England 1944.
This is my summary project of the entire model section regarding Operation Frantic, i.e. the mission From England and Italy to Soviet-occupied Ukraine in 1944. This time it was a special mission, because Frantic VII was a supply drop for the Polish Insurgents fighting in Warsaw. A group of 107 B-17s from the 95th, 100th and 390th BG made an airdrop over Warsaw on September 18, 1944. Unfortunately, only about 30 percent of the containers were taken over by Polish partisans. The entire formation was preceded by two Mosquito PR.XVI planes from 25 BG Rcn, which formed the Meteo reconnaissance. I managed to determine one aircraft number and, after ordering appropriate decals from a local manufacturer, I made a model from the mission over Warsaw. The Airfix model is very good and one could go on and on about how well it is made. However, I was missing one part - the radio, and Airfix Technical Support could not or did not want to help me. In any case (apart from the cost of a resin set of various radios), I solved the problem myself. I hope you liked the project and I will definitely come back with another one soon. I think that the topic of Air Aid for the Warsaw Uprising will return soon.
Nice work.
In my opinion too many very similar photos (e.g. 35-44; 1+16-19+45-51...).
I usually take similar photos in various shades of sunlight.
Excellent job, capt R!
Great video, too!
Thank You My friend!
Some great figures, photos and that Mosquito is some of your best work capt R.
A real treat that Mossie of yours.
Thank you, I really appreciate your comment 🙂
The final result turned out well. Having it on a small display base adds a lot to the overall display.
I like to make displays 🙂 it is part of the story.
The photos are a little confusing but a very nice looking Mosquito.
Thank You! Are there too many or too few photos? 🙂
Too many very similar photos, @lis, but that’s just my view, it doesn’t take anything away from your model.
I try to catch different shades is sunlight.
A wonderful Mosquito, Bernard @lis
This red tail scheme is very attractive.
It was a pleasure to follow your build thread.
I really appreciate that you always actively participate in my threads 🙂
Just from the photos and seeing the figures, I was thinking this was at least a 1/48th scale build. Outstanding work, capt R. Really great Mosquito, and cool to see one done in a US photo recon version.
Thank You My Friend! This US Version is realy cool with red tail.
A nice Mossy - well done!
Thank You!
Well done!
