Revellogram's 1/48 P-61 Black Widow "Jukin Judy"
The reputation of this kit proceeds itself. I bought it several years ago at Hobby Lobby, the box art caught my eye. That was when I was still fresh to the hobby, and didn't know how bad this kit was. Fortunately before I attempted it I did some research and found out. So it sat in my stash for years. I was not confident back then that I could whip this thing into shape. I decided during the winter of 22-23 to pull it out and see if I could manage it. My skills have vastly improved since I started in 2016. After 50 hours, a lot of patience and so much weight to get it to sit on it's front gear that it now feels like a diecast model if you pick it up. Completed back in January of 2023. The fit was quite horrendous. I had a lot of putty work to do, and I also had to shim the clear parts in several places to get them to look half way decent. Would I ever attempt it again, no probably not. Maybe the old Monogram boxing, but certainly not the Revell one, which is what this one was.
Ended up looking pretty darn good! Nicely done!
A wonderful Black widow, Christina!
Congratulations!
Thanks guys!
You definitely tackled this difficult kit, Christina @keyda1981
I really like how this Black Widow turned out.
Terrible kit, great result, Christina @keyda1981. You have gathered your skills and improved your game much faster than most people do.
I haven't tackled that old kit yet for all the reasons you've stated. Your efforts have really resulted in a fine looking model.
Nicely done, Christina (@keyda1981). You have brought this old kit back to life. Really tough to paint and all-black plane, but yours is convincingly done.
Well done, Christina! This certainly is a beast to build, especially the clears, but your perseverance paid off.
Thanks everyone!
I know nothing about this kit or plane but it looks as though you’ve done a great job with it.
Another winner, Christina. Like the B-26, that one is a character builder.
Another old kit that requires "some modeling skills". Well done!
