Academy F/A-18D 1/32
Dear guys,
I'm present to you one of my work from the past, one of my attemp in 1/32 scale model. The F/A-18D from Academy, again build straight from the box, finished with Model Master and weathering with pastel. The weapon load out was incorrect as I'm one my Hornet fully load with bomb and missle. Please feel free to point out any faults or mistake so I can learn for my next build.

I'm not expert enough to play the "find the mistakes" game, Nguyen...it looks pretty darn good to ME..! I've seen plenty of real pics of carrier-based Hornets, and some of 'em look pretty 'grungy', so your weathering looks spot-on (no pun intended). ๐ Looks like you spent a lot of time detailing this kit and it appears it was time well spent. I like it. I have the Academy 32nd F-18 as well, but it's the single seat version and looks no where as good as yours. Very nice work, my friend.

Hi Nguyen no ideas about any mistakes. Its a very well build Hornet with an outstanding paint job.
One of the better F-18's I've seen. Not that I see anything negative but it's hard to give even constructive criticism on a build that's way above the looker's ability.
Although I'm a critical and experienced judge of models, I can't find much to complain about. The underside of the aircraft has a reddish tone, but that could be the photo, rather than the model.
Also, aren't aircraft usually more worn and dirty around the engine?
I'm no aircraft expert, and I wouldn't be asking these critical questions if you hadn't asked for them.
As with your other models, I find this an very good build and an excellent paint job. I love the way you work with nuances.
I also like that you achieved this excellent result by building the model out of the box and then painting it well.
It's another good example, that good modelling is not about adding lots of aftermarket parts. It's about good basic building- and painting skills.

I think the reddish hue is definately a photographic artefact. Everything else is well considered and as an OOB offers a great incentive to hone one's basic skills without resorting to aftermarket as if that would 'make' the model.

Looks to be a solid build of jet classic. This build is a good example of Saying the most while doing the least or Using some great painting to capture the look and feel of the F-18 with out having to us any after market products. Like the weathering on the TPS.

1/32 aircraft models sometimes really blow your mind. Does anyone remember Francois Verlinden's Tamiya Tomcat in their 1985 catalogue? I simply couldn't believe what I see.
Like the others have said, it's a beautiful model, the finish is especially impressive. Can you give us a brief description of how you achieved it? By the way, how should we address you, is it Huy, Hoang or Nguyen. Living in China I have many Chinese friends, most of them have adopted English names because their Chinese names are too difficult to pronounce!
