Eduard 1/48 Airco DH2
Eduard's weekend edition of the Airco DH2 is a very nice kit without building complications. Although the rigging is perfuse, I found a solution to ease the rigging process. I used stiff copper wires that come out of isolation mesh of electric cables. Thanks to the small scale and short distance of bracing wires, the wires can be glued straight to their respective position without the preparation work required for rigging. After the wires are secured in position with a CA glue, they can be modified to show the tension look of wires like the real biplane.
Great looking DH2, Rafi.
'Weekend Edition"?!?!
It would take me two weeks to get all that rigging done.
Seems quite the joke right? I definitely would need more than a "weekend."
Thankfully, the weekend price was also a joke.
Excellent work Rafi completing one of the famous (infamous for most modelers) birdcages of WW1.
Thank you Dan.
Beautiful work, especially on the rigging! You won't find me tackling one of those!
Thank you Greg!
Me neither again..
This is an impressive result, Rafi @blackmopane
Your rigging solution is well thought and perfectly executed.
Well done.
Thank you John.
That’s impressive, Rafi.
Thank you John!
Excellent job as always, Rafi!
Great solution for the rigging!
Thank you Spiros!
Turned out well Rafi, had enough trouble with one in 1/32 can't imagine rigging a DH2 in 1/48.
Thank you Ian.
The rigging with stiff metal wires on small models is easy. All you need to do is to pre cut the required length of wire and glue to the struts or insert into a hole.
The work still, is tedious.
Nice work on this, Rafi. Now you only have to do an F.E.2b and you'll have climbed the two highest mountains in WW1 modeling. 🙂
I managed to do 2 - this Eduard kit and the Blue Max kit, which makes the Eduard kit look like a walk in the park on a sunny Sunday.
Thank you Tom.
Dully noted.
Beautiful, I like it very much.
Thank you Milan.
Beautiful! I'll try your rigging tip!
Thank you Maurits!
