Bristol M.1C monoplane 1/32 special hobby

September 26, 2024 · in Aviation · · 15 · 58

The Bristol M.1C was the only British monoplane fighter of the Great War, of which only 125 were built. Most of these aircraft were used for training, but a few squadrons were stationed in Macedonia and Mesopotamia towards the end of the war.

The aircraft depicted here is from RAF 150 squadron, based in Macedonia. The squadron was recorded as having shot down 1 Albatros D V and 2 LVG machines in the autumn of 1918, but chances of aerial combat were limited in that theatre and they were mainly used in ground support.

The Bristol M.1C was one of the fastest of the British fighters but was armed with only one Vickers MG and it had to compete with the Sopwith Camel and the SE5a, which were produced in far greater numbers and so its full potential was never realised by the end of the war.

  1. Very nice Bristol. It certainly looks the part.

  2. Very nice build - such a fun shape, almost bird-like. Well done.

  3. Very nice work on this, Ian, and an excellent result.

  4. Very nice result on this monoplane, Ian @firelockg
The details and paintwork are amazing.

  5. Ian @firelockg , most British planes at that time were generally considered fairly ‘boring’ in terms of standard schemes! Well done in making this come alive. It absolutely pops! Your oil stains and carefully placed grime have really made the best of this kit! Outstanding!

  6. Excellent Bristol! You don't see this kit being built very often.

  7. Thank you gentlemen, it was a fun build ( with no top wing to give me nightmares ).

  8. Excellent work, Ian. I just saw you finished in the Group build section.

  9. Nice work, Ian. Your build looks spot on with the finish and the overall looks.

  10. Great build Ian. Good one for rigging. Not too much to give you a headache 🤪

  11. John, Bob & Guy, thank you gentlemen for your kind remarks, as for the rigging Guy I don't mind it , just as long as I don't rush it, allot easier than rigging a DH2 that's for sure.

  12. Great build, I like it a lot. I am also waiting to build it.

  13. Thanks Milan, it was a good build exercise with no major problems.
