Airfix Hawker Hurricane Mk.1 / France, 1940
A few months ago i read an interesting article regarding the german breakthrough at Sedan in 1940 and how the myth of the weak resistance of the allied forces was created. I think it's fascinating how a series of small strategic mistakes led to a major collapse of the french and british defensive efforts. The Germans never planed their campaign as a blitzkrieg in the first place and they did suffer considerable losses both on the ground and in the air during the entire campaign. One might say that the quick defeat of France at least made the Germans overestimate their own abilities when i came to planing the assault on Russia.
Anyway, I have developed quite a soft spot for early war schemes from the RAF. I like the black and white underbellies or the silver versions. The Airfix Hurricane Mk.1 boxings offer lots of schemes from that campaign.
As for the kit: This is the boxing from 2013. Great little kit. Added early RAF seatbelts, a Yahu cockpit panel (barely visible). Painted with AK interactive acrylics. PLW with oil colors (a first timer! So much fun!) and a flat coat by Vallejo. Super fine thread by AK Interactive.
Having another Airfix Hurricane from that period and a Wellington from 1939 (The reboxing with the Helgoland attack day scheme), i would love to start a group build for that period if anyone is interested!
Great looking Hurricane. They always take a backseat to the Spitfire for British air power, but they were a stalwart of the early campaigns. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent job. It would be nice to add a photo of the undersides with the typical white/black scheme.
