Noorduyn Norseman C-64 1/72 Matchbox
This is my rendition of the Norseman ,one of (I believe) 20 aircraft purchased by the IAF in 1948 to be used as a general workhorse carrying up 8 passengers or 3200 pounds of cargo,it was chosen because of its rugged design and its ability to land on rough unprepared strips.
It is the Matchbox kit which comes with the option of wheels, floats or ski's.Thankfully there were few markings to worry about just the Star of David roundels and a simple code number which were sourced from my spare decals box,the colour scheme was on the advice of a modeller in Israel.
My prefered scale is 1/48 as I find 1/72 a little too fiddly for my clumsy fingers but as far as I know the Matchbox kit is the only game in town, so if you want an Israeli Norseman this is it.
Comments please N.
I've got 2 or 3 of these in the stash. Never built one. This might be enough inspiration to build one.
If mine turned out half as good as yours I'd be satisfied
Thanks for your kind words Al,I just had a look at your 109-very nice! very complicated those german WW2 schemes.I'm really not comfortable with 1/72 so I always admire nicely done work in this small scale
Very nice. As problematic as this kit is, it beats the daylights out of the Hobbycrap Norseman, which finally moved from the shelf of doom to the recycling bin a few years back.
Thanks for your comments,I didn't know there was another Norseman kit out there - what scale? I would love to build one of these in the same camo scheme but in 1/48.

When I lived in MA, there was a sport parachuting organization based at the airport in Orange call Parachutes Incorporated and they had two of 'em with the port side door removed. My dad flew for them weekends and I got to ride right seat many times. Even in July, it's cold at 13,500 (altitude needed for a 60 second delay jump).
Hey Craig,in the U.K. it can be cold in July at sea level!
