Retired, Ocala Florida resident since 1978. I build 1/72 and 1/48 aircraft primarily, but delve into 1/144th. 1/72 (or close) Boats, 1/24th cars, 1/32-35th and assorted stuff, fill in the gaps, and prevent "burn-out". I'm a member of IPMS since 1983, a currently an officer in our local chapter. My current collection is over 400 on the shelf, and an equal number in my stash. I'd like to be able to share "the good, the bad, and the ugly", with my fellow modelers.
Inside the fuselage, it says, Revell, Inc. Venice, Calif., Copyright 1954. No doubt a re-pop. I built it as a 12 year old (and still have it). I thought I'd give it another try. Actually, the box art got me again. The nose art group [...]
Subject: the story so far...
The year is 1949, and the Goodyear Trophy Races, are at their peak, with speed records being set almost weekly.
The "stars" of the "show" are what's now known as the "Goodyear [...]
This is another model that's older than most of you. The Mig 21D is one of the IMC "Battle Damaged Series", which you could build "stock" or as a "battle scarred veteran". It included parts for both, [...]
Like it's builder (me), this model is an antique. It seems I've been going through a stage of doing old kits, that are fast and relatively easy. I've ignored my WWII Japanese and Soviet aircraft in the past, and I'm starting to fill [...]
Trivia question: What post WWII US Navy aircraft had no tail hook or wing walks?
Thanks to Jaime, I finally took this one from the stash and got busy. What was supposed to be a "group" build, sort of went by the wayside, with a [...]
Everyone who has built this kit knows how basic it is. My first attempt ended up in the standard paint scheme of the period (grey, duck egg, w/stripes). I bought this kit already started, The fuselage halves, including the prop, were [...]
The XF-88 "Voodoo" , first flown in 1948, was an under powered version of came to be the F-101. It was designed to be a long range fighter to escort B-29's.
The kit really shows it's age and outside of filling out my Voodoo [...]
This is the old Life-Like, Ideal, Lindberg Gloster Gladiator. In it's time (long ago) it was a decent kit. I modified it a little, to make a "stunt" plane out of it. The prop was from the Mk.I kit, and the [...]
This is another old one from the stash. While several versions can be built from this kit, I tried to choose what I thought was the most colorful. I enjoyed the build, and thought the little research I did, most interesting. It was a [...]
Another "oldie" , built OOB, just because I like the unusual paint scheme. It's been re-popped by Revell, and is still available. It is a very basic kit, more fun to paint than to build. While it wasn't much of a challenge to [...]
