I’m on the other side of 40 now and I think it’s safe to say that I’ve been involved in modelling on and off for more than half of my life.
Most of my collection heavily features 48th scale aircraft and helicopters in both 48th and 72nd scale. There are a smattering of submarines in there too along with a 24th scale Porsche 911. Of course having a dad who served in the Royal Australian Air Force working on fast jets has nudged me in certain directions when it comes to modelling.
So…in summary and not necessarily exclusive:
Cold war and post cold war jets
Australian Defence Force
WW2 allied and axis
Outside modelling I enjoy getting away as often as possible to go camping with my family and of course Lego building with my son and daughter.
I just finished this one on Saturday night.
It's the 1/48 Tamiya P-51D Mustang with Lifelike Decals, Eduard fabric seat belt and Barracuda oval tread wheels. Built as 44-151103 flown by Col. Dick Rowland, CO 348 FG Luzon, Phillipines, early 194[...]
Hi folks and a happy 2018 to you all.
This is the Bell X-1 "Glamorous Glennis" named after his wife as flown by Chuck Yeager on the 14th of October 1947 for its historic supersonic flight, the first manned aircraft to do so.
I'm not sure if [...]
This is the well known 1/48 P-47D by Taimiya. No introductions are needed for the kit as it is well known and is faultless in its construction.
I’ve built it to represent “The Reamer’ flown by Lt. Jack H. Reams of the 347FS, 350FG US[...]
This is the newish and quite nice to build Airfix 1/48 Boulton-Paul Defiant Mk I. The markings it's dressed in represent 264 Squadron circa the summer of 1940 in the traditional colours of dark green, dark earth all over sky. I didn't find much [...]
The Worimi hornet is complete. This model represents A21-23 that was dressed in Worimi group traditional artwork and colours to celebrate the service of indigenous people within the Australian Defence Force during 2016. The aircraft is adorned w[...]
This is the 1/48th Trumpeter FGA.6 Seahawks. I started this about a year ago and I’ve just finished it today (16/10/16). It’s been around a while so and information about the kit is readily available online so I won’t cover that here b[...]
I finished it earlier in the year but I've only just got round to photographing it. I'd categorise this kit as my sanity build as it is a very simple airframe to assemble. Click fit and very easy to build otherwise. Paints are Gunze a[...]
Latest off the bench for me is Tamiya’s 1/48 F-84G converted to a Royal Danish Air Force RF-84G using the MADS resin set.
I wanted to build something other than a NMF Thunderjet as they are not often seen. Some brief research and [...]
This is the Bronco Models 1/48 MQ-1 Predator straight outa the box.
It's a very simple build with excellent fit. Marking options are very simple schemes though they're difficult to add interest to being all grey. A few different shad[...]
Hi again all.
I promise that this will be the last one for a while!!!
I finished this one back in 2012. It's the Italeri 1/72 Jag T-2A with Aeroclub ejection seats and decals by the now defunct Model Alliance. I'd have gone with the kit decals[...]
