Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. Moved to Melbourne, Australia in 2012. My grandfather served in the South African Airforce (SAAF) for 37 years. My father was in the South African Army for over 10 years, which is where my love for aircraft and armour comes from.

Air shows in South Africa were an absolute treat when I was growing up. Seeing SAAF Rooivalks, Cheetah's and Gripens, to English Electric Lightnings, Hawker Hunters and Buccaneers from Thunder City. To the legendary Spitfire Mk.IXe, P51D Mustang, Mirage lll, Mirage F1's and Shackleton MR3 from the SAAF Museum.

I have been lucky enough to fly in a Bell Huey and ex SAAF Harvard when I was living in South Africa, a Tiger Moth, Dakota C47, CJ6 Nanchang, T28 Trojan & P51-D Mustang, in Australia.

I am currently building SAAF and IAF aircraft, with one or two armour pieces in the stash too.

1/48 RAF Spitfire Vb 'Sailor Malan'

This was my first Tamiya model and what an absolute delight! The kit was amazing and I got to use my new Taimya Airbrush for the first time too. This resulted in a very enjoyable build! I free handed the camouflage & pre shading. The [...]

1/48 Israeli Mirage III "Shahak 59"

I have a full squadron of Mirage lll's in my stash. Every variant the South African Airforce flew, a few from Israel and their upgraded versions, the Cheetah & Kfir. After my last Italeri build where the AK base coat turned to dust and [...]

1/72 Israeli F-16A Netz 'Operation Opera'

Seeing as I have about 5 Israeli F-16's in my stash, I thought I'd give the 1/72 Hasegawa kit a build. It was a nice change from all the Italeri kits I've been building. The fit was great and the AK Paints were lovely to work with. I tried [...]

1/24 Revell Ferrari F2003 GA

Long time no post. I thought I'd try a Formula 1 car to break up my aircraft stack. I chose this Ferrari F2003 GA from Revell as it was quite cheap and didn't have a lot of parts. I thought this would equal an easy build... The kit did not [...]

1/48 SAAF Tiger Moth

After attempting a Bronco 1/48 Mustang and having some difficulties with the metallic finish, I needed an ego booster. Enter the Airfix 1/48 DH82A Tiger Moth. Lovely kit with a great fit. I chickened out with the rigging but will attempt [...]

1/48 Israeli Mirage III CJ

While Italeri kits arent the greatest, they do tend to suck me in as the offer great subjects in great schemes. This is their Israeli Aces kit which had plenty of options to choose from. I decided on a natural metal scheme to test out my [...]

1/72 SAAF Mirage F1 CZ

The South African Airforce operated a number of Dassault Mirage variants. This included 7 variations of the Mirage III, which totalled 58 aircraft. A further 48 Mirage F1's were acquired from 1975, of which 16 were Mirage F1 CZ's, an air [...]

1/72 Israeli F-15C 'Baz'

Israel took delivery of their first F-15's in 1976. The procurement of these new fighters was to replace their aging Mirage fleet. A number of Israeli aces were sent over to the US to test both the F-14 Tomcat and the F-15 Eagle. The [...]

1/72 SAAF Spitfire Vc

I saw this Airfix kit at the hobby shop and noticed it had South African Airforce markings, I couldn't pass up the opportunity. This is the first time I've used an airbrush, the first model I've weathered with oils and my first 1/72 [...]

1/72 SAAF Harvard / T-6 Texan

The South African Air Force operated over 1250 Harvard's from 1942 to 1995. SAAF received their first Harvard's in October 1942. By July 1944, 633 Harvard Mk IIA's and III's had been shipped to South Africa with another 555 (379 MkIIA's [...]
