Three things accompany and fascinate me throughout my life: history, the fine arts and the fascination of aeroplanes and ships. In the many aspects of model making, these fascinations come together quite happily.

In this respect, I take the freedom to build anything and in any scale that occupies me. In practice, these are mainly aircraft in 1:48 and 1:32 scale, but lately the 1:72 and even the 1:144 scale have developed a great fascination for me.

As a child of the 1970s, I am aware of the scale in which the offers, possibilities and demands in plastic modelling have developed: we are living in truly great times... aren't we?

Bored at the "phoney war"? A very special Bf 108 Taifun!

As fascinating as the Bf 108 Taifun is as an aircraft, the motivation to build this model this time clearly came from the paint scheme. As soon as I saw this special Taifun, I knew which of the five marking variants of the Eduard Profipack [...]

A Bf 108 over Africa- and this without the Afrikakorps! D-IBMY on the podium of the 1937 oasis flight

An aircraft as iconic as the Bf 108 is matched by an equally iconic colour scheme: the blue "RLM 24" and the classic forms of Messerschmitt's groundbreaking first all-metal aircraft form a combination that is still memorable [...]

“Big Brother is watching” or: a Bf 108 Taifun as birthday present for my dear brother

A first look at the present depiction of a Bf 08 Taifun will quickly make the expert frown, because neither the identification on the fuselage nor those on the wings seem to make sense or should even be brought into line with a real [...]

Darth Vader to spoil the day: Incom T-65B X-Wing

To write something new about the Incom T-65 X-Wing would probably mean carrying Dactillions to Galactic City, because one thing can be said for sure: the X-Wing has not only proven to be one of the most successful space fighter concepts [...]

Willy Messerschmitt becomes supersonic: the Helwan Ha 300

The world after 1945 was marked by the formation of blocs, in the course of which East and West strove in many different ways to integrate states and governments into their ranks. This also meant generous deliveries of weapons, which [...]

From “Panic Fighter” to Smokey Joe”: CA-13 Boomerang from Special Hobby.

Probably many people will recognize themselves when I describe the reasons for my interest in model aircraft construction as follows: the fascination of flying meets (technical) history and stories, combines with historical biographies and [...]

Wirraway means "challenger": CA-9 from Special Hobby

In the language of the Wurundjeri, a tribe of the aboriginal people of Australia, the word Wirraway means "to challenge" or "the challenger". In the search for a suitable name to describe the first independent [...]

From training to COIN: French T6 Texan/ Tomcat at war in Algeria

It is not surprising that a wide range of variants and versions can be found in an aircraft type which, with more than 15,500 examples, is one of the most built designs in history. The high production figures ensure that the T6 Texan is [...]

How a giant became a dwarf: C-124 Globemaster II from Roden

The challenge of depicting such a huge aircraft as the Globemaster II on such a small scale as 1:144 is particularly fascinating for me. But the question of whether one could credibly represent the really big in the really small was only [...]

“W” stands for Weather! Boeing WB-47 Stratojet from Hasegawa

I would like to show you this model, which was built some time ago, because it is a classical kit rarely seen built. I hope you like the pictures! The designation "WB-47B Stratojet" will perhaps interest some readers; because [...]
