@chinesegeorge thanks George. I dont make a very good modeler as I am way to impatient : ) but way to much invested in this to ruin it. I’m terrified of the decals and my try them today

@gblair thanks I love the Tamiya rattle cans, i just have not had the time nor the patience to learn airbrushing plus it;s nit very convenient for me. With the cans I si pay step out the back door, shoot the color and binding it in to dry. I have painted in 20 degrees with no problems 🙂

As I feared the decals are terrible. : ( they dont release from the paper no matter how long I soak them if I try to slide them they break. And there are a ton of them : (. SIGH….gunna be a long day : )

They are still wet thus the water drops. If I use solvent do i wait till they are dry or apply it while they are damp?

I'm sorry the decals are doing this, Cricket (@bikequeen). I really don't have any suggestions for the problem. For me, decals are one of those things that either work or they don't. If you haven't already tried it, you might try using warm water to release the decals. Sometimes it helps to soften the glue holding the decals. Good luck.

@gblair roger that George not helping much…this is that old paper where u can actually see the paper absorbing the water from the back. I added dish soap to the warm water. I have a glass with 1/4 soap and 3/4 water in it and i wipe the part with that solution and then the decal as it comes out of the water it helps a bit, but they are old decals and do not want to release :(. I’m hoping I can touch them up in spots with gold and silver paint, but some spots are a real mess : (

PS…I am cutting them in places so they aren't as long…that helps a very little 🙁

    Hi Cricket (@bikequeen):
I did a quick search and found some ideas in Finescale Model Magazine website:

Have you tried to soak them in warm water, sometimes this improves it a bit, Cricket @bikequeen
Else I don't have other solutions.
A real pity if they don't work.

@gblair @johnb thanks guys. I have them all on except for the “saddle bags” lids and the fuel tank. One lower front cowling went on perfectly the other side is a total mess. I have Tamiya decal adhesive which was very expensive and i could only get it from Japan, it helps. The soap solutions are helping and I can manipulate the decals with a brush dipped in it …so it’s sorta successful….. My only hope now is to micro paint the broken areas which I have done before. Thanks for the link George…it’s kinda late for any of that to help but I will file it for the future

Pity your decals behaved that way, my friend @bikequeen. At least you managed to apply most of them. Micro painting the misfortune areas is the way to go. I am sure you'll do a great job!

@fiveten Thanks Spiros, they are all in place and have the micro-sol solution on them…morning will tell the story…now it’s time to return the kitchen table to it’s original purpose!….LOL

Sorry to hear about the transfer problems, Cricket @bikequeen. I hope you can touch them up. Found some metallic transfers on line, not sure if they would help.
