    Decals come on nicely, Erik.
As well as the fibres, but those can be removed easily.

Decals look great to me. I’m not sure what John is referring to by “the fibres”?

Eric (@eb801), Johns reference is to my picture-text that I have left some cotton fibres from a cotton swab on the plane. It will be rather easy to remove when giving it a once-over with a damp cloth.

@eb801, I was indeed referring to the text of Erik.
To my experience, you only notice those small fibres when taking pictures.
But they're pretty easy to remove.

Those Spanish camos are so cool, looking even greater with decals on.

You've done a splendid job so far, my friend @airbum!

Cotton fibres, red sable paintbrush bristles (!), tissue residues and the like...hopefully (but not always) discovered and removed before final coating...This is the story of my modeling life, my friends @johnb and @eb801... 🙂

    Matt / Flat, detailpainting

After the decals got almost 14 days to cure I airbrushed some matt

Even though I just had a very bad experience with the airbrush clogged by acrylic remains, I loaded it with Testors matt clear acrylic. It did go well with the airbrushing, and time will tell if I managed to clean out the airbrush.

Here you have the result of the fuselage being “mattened”

It did get two layers to smoothen everything. I see that the black areas are a bit grey from the matt, so next time I may use gloss on top of the decals to make all the edges smoother.

Some small parts got a bit of attention too – and after removing the masks the glass came out – not at all bad I think

The air-intake got drilled out as the cowling is to be positioned open, and it will be rather cool when someone discovers that little feature. (and if no one ever sees it, I will make them . . . . )

next up I hope to have the last bits in place and the sun out for an outdoor photoshoot – and the 14th 109 of mine in the headlines – stay tuned

    It looks fantastic, Erik @airbum
The greyish black is not that bad I would say.
In real live the black color will look a bit pale due to the weather as well after a while.

Good thing that your acryl matt session went well, my friend @airbum! Maybe acrylics are not that bad after all 🙂 . But, again, how can I know, being an enamel guy? (and waiting a day for them to cure, anyway...).
Looking great in those Spanish markings!

Thanks John (@JohnB) and Spiros (@fiveten). It is true the Spanish sun would have faded the black after a while, but that would then go for the other colors too. I think in the future first a layer of gloss or two before the final layer of matt will be tested. Enamels are rather easy to use for me too, and with the fast-drying thinner in the xtracolor offerings it is rather easy to work with. Time will tell what happens regarding import from Britain after the new rules gets sorted.

Well - I think this might be the template for my 2nd F! Love those markings - part Spanish Civil War, yet with the more modern Spanish roundels. Adds some nice color, and that 3-tone scheme is a nice variation to a 109 lineup. I'm sure I have some Spanish roundels somewhere...

Fantastic build by the way! You and Spiros are egging me on to mix up a batch of LqS!

Looking good Erik. I like those Spanish markings. Speaking of matte finishes, I go back and forth between Testors acrylic clear finishes and Alclad II Klear Kotes lacquers. I never have any problems with either. Alclad has a great selection. I seldom use enamels.

    Thank you gentlemen.
Marcus (@mvtb), you an me both!
Greg (@gkittinger), happy to gain one more happy LqS'er!
Eric (@eb801), great info - will keep that in mind. With many AM decals acrylic is the only way to go, I have heard, so I will definitely check out the ones you use.

Now, on another subject, I have by mistake bought some 1/72 Legion Condor decals (Xtradecals), and they may be the subject of a grand giveaway/draw/something over in the 109werke topic one of these days - stay tuned if yoy are interested.

    New record @JohnB, @fiveten. @mvtb, @gkittinger, @eb801, @uscusn, @holzhamer, @gblair, @lgardner and @klavs1972? 12 months since last post on this one. Well, another update has arrived!

    Bits and pieces

With the last clear having cured for a year, I think it is safe to handle by now?

Well, I did have the Cyano on the bench, and as a lot of parts were ready for this one, I added some of them

Still need to assemble and finetune a few bits, but I actually managed to paint the canopy last week!

Still need to attach some parts – like the tailwheel that will wait till last I think.

Rather interesting camo with the bright marks and white tail I think

next up it might just be ready for an outdoor photosession! Do tune in again within the next year. . . . .
