1/48 Monogram Hawker Typhoon Mk IB

September 8, 2016 · in Aviation · · 11 · 2.6K

I am calling this one done. Hawker Mk IB. The molds for this oldie were dated 1967 or 68 I cant remember now. I remember building it with my dad over 40 years ago. The model is painted with Tamiya acrylics and I added KMC resin Tempest tailplanes, a Eduard seat belt and whip antennas from Nitanol wire. Markings were from a eagle strike sheet. A fun build from beginning to end.

  1. Nice job Geoff, posted one of these a while back. Not a bad kit concerning it's age. A fun build which is what this hobby is all about. Looks great.

  2. Nice work! Great old kit.

  3. Good to see you back, Geoff...and with an outstanding build at that. Good job!

  4. You've done a good job with a classic kit and had fun to boot, what more can we ask for?

  5. Very well done on this oldie kit. Goes to show what a skilled modeler can do, no matter what the kit is. Good work, Geoff !

  6. Nice silky smooth finish and I like the shading amount, too. A true tribute to the original Typhoon. How can you get the canopy so clear, with Tamiya Polishing Compound "Finish" & pantyhose?!?

  7. Great job! The painting is just stunning! I don't know why but I personally prefer theese old kits over "überkits" - You can show what You can able do do with theese. With some new Tamiyas I often feel that I just play with Lego 😀 😀 😀

  8. This brings back memories!
That was the last kit I built as a teenager, before quitting modelling. It was en excellent kit by the standards of the day.
You've done a really nice job with it.

  9. Nice! Good clean build and paint work. I also love building the old kits.
