1/48 Tamiya P-51C Mustang

January 8, 2013 · in Aviation · · 11 · 3.1K

Again a but this time C version.
This is P-51C Mustang finished with the markings of 43-24959 Gladys from 26th FS 51st FG in Kunming China during 1944 autumn.

The construction started with the painting of cockpit components to US interior green .
Cockpit floor has corrected by adding a cardboard piece painted to wooden color.
The cockpit is modified with some beauties from several companies.
These are :

  • PE instrument panel
  • Ultracast B/C resin seat
  • Quickboost gunsight

The painting was done with Alclad II lacquers as usual.

The additional replacement parts are ;

-Ultracast P-51 B/C exhausts
-Ultracast P-51 Mustang Hamilton Standard Cuffed 4-Blade Propeller & Spinner.
-Ultracast P-51 wheels diamond tread
-Ultracast P-51 corrected flaps

The decals are from old and rare Aeromaster's sheet number 48-211, “Fighting Mustangs P-51B Part 1.

Happy Modelling

  3. Very nice work!

  4. This is just as handsome a Mustang as your last one. Makes one glad to look at.

Wondering about your photos against the white background, are they taken outside in direct sunlight? What's the setup?

      Hi Martin,
I usually take the pictures by daylight without flash or something else. This pictures also were taken in a sunny day without flash. But later the contrast and brightness level of the picture were increased .

  5. Outstanding as usual, sir...I was just thinking how one can spend more money on after-market "goodies" than the initial cost of the kit! Especially in the smaller scales, you add up the cost of the various resin sets offered, photo-etch, decals, etc. and the total most always far outweighs the original kit price! By the way, I, too, was wondering how you set up for pics.

      Thank you Sir,
A matter of fact the finishing result is more essential than the total cost of the project.Yes this is not logical for an "Homos Economicus" but that s my way. If the result can satisfy me then the money that I spent is not so important.
I usually take the pictures at daylight without flash
