1/48 Tamiya P47D Razorback "Bouncin Bette" 318th FG Saipan 1944
Hi Everyone
Tamiya P47D
Thundercals Decals (Excellent decals 10/10)
Ultracast Seat & Wheels
Tamiya/Model Master/Alclad Paints
Another personal favourite, although I should have weathered this one a lot more. Next time...
Thanks
Darren
Never seen this a paint scheme, very effective. I keep learning something new every day here. Also, I greatly appreciate your P-47 series, how many have you built?
Probably over 20, I tend to lose count...
I also build a few other types for a break sometimes...
The Tamiya Thunderbolt is such a great kit and with so many schemes to do, always my default choice when deciding what to build next!
superb work
I, too, had many P-47 variants - I use the term "had" only because I HAVE two cats (one of which is rather clumsy). Nice job on the paint scheme, my man.
Very nice.
After checking your's out I've just ordered the decals! Great work.
Hi Tim
Glad to hear, I actually do not have this P-47 anymore, I scrapped it and plan to redo in the future! Thundercals are great decals and I can highly recommend them to any P-47 modeller!
Hi Darren,
My decals have arrived (Thundercals) and there are one or two questions I have about them. Is the mask just the piece of paper you cut out? Also, what blue did you use to paint the spinner to match the decals?
Cheers
Tim
Hi Tim
The mask template is designed to place over the natural metal area and leave enough room for you to then place the blue decal between the OD and NM area on fuselage. I cut out the blue stripe out and painted the fuselage NM and then masked off the area that would remain NM and then painted the OD. The koment of truth wa placing the blue stripe decal on the fuselage and tahnk fully all OK. Have fun with Bouncin Bette !
I used MM Chrysler Blue for the blue and this matched the decal stripes OK
