Tamiya 1/48th F4U-1D NZ5255
Here's my interpretation of NZ5255. Photos indicate that this aircraft wore a faded factory 4-color scheme with plenty of fuel and oil staining. Operated by No.21 Squadron (RNZAF) on Bougainville in the summer of '44, this aircraft was downed during a ground support mission on 29 August 1944 and unfortunately the pilot, Flt. Sgt. Ronald Bayly did not survive.
This model was built OOB, with only tape belts, ignition harness, and antenna wires added. Decals from Aeromaster (bars on upper starboard and lower port insignia re-painted in RNZAF insignia blue) and Ventura.
