iModeler December Awards

January 8, 2014 · in Uncategorized · · 21 · 1.6K

Time to announce the official results of our final monthly roundup in 2013. 82 new articles and 1035 comments were added to iModeler during December. As per our usual procedure, we are awarding the iModeler Best in Show title to the entry that wins this month's prize, but also list runner-ups as Honorable Mentions. We think that all are great modeling accomplishments that deserve recognition. The judging committee this month was @editor and @magnusf.

And the winners are...

iModeler Best in Show - December 2013

Frankly, we have seen but a small share of standalone figures at iModeler to date, but we are convinced that this month's winner could easily stand a comparison with the best in this noble genre. Bob Mack's rendition of Verlinden 120mm Lt. Gen. Ulysses S. Grant shows ambience, personality and presence that makes an entirely lifelike portrait of this great American.

We are pleased to award it the iModeler Best in Show title for December - noting the Editor's remark that Bob's masterpiece could probably be made even better by an addition of some text in the article:).

But wait, there is more! – the Random Award

We are also awarding a prize as a token of appreciation to all our contributors. This is selected through an entirely random draw among all the entries of the month. This time, our lucky winner is Johan Hugogård with his RAF Rescue Launch 1/72. A big thank you for contributing!

  16. Bob, what a masterpiece! It is so life like, I expect him to finish looking at the map, shrug his shoulders, and get up, and look afar with his binoculars! Thanks for creating this treasure. I am going to come back and look at it many times.

Congratulations to everyone, these are all fantastic, and I sure didn't expect to find my name in there. I haven't been in iModeler that long, and I guess I tend to downplay my efforts. This was a surprise, and an honor. Thanks!

  17. Congratulations to one and all, I missed both postings originally glad to see Grant so nicely done. Wow I just wish I could paint figures half that good.

  18. Bob …What a stellar job on your U.S Grant figure! Congratulations to all the winners this month.

  19. Bob, that is definitely one of the best figures i have ever seen, and I have been to the SCAMMS show here (a humbling experience if there ever was one). Your Grant figure could appear in that show without the slightest hesitation.

Johan, that was a great project too. Very realistic in its finish and presentation.

Everyone on the "Honorable Mention" list posted something I wanted to examine in detail. Excellent work, gentlemen.

And I will echo Bob's comment about this being the best model club on the planet.

  20. Well done Bob, great work! And what you said there could not be more true! Fantastic work by all.
