Airfix 1/48 Supermarine Seafire FR47
Here is my Seafire FR47, built from the Airfix kit. Built pretty much OOB with the addition of Barracuda resin cameras to fill in the empty spaces behind the clear camera ports. Paint was Floquil extra dark sea gray on the upper surfaces, and AeroMaster RLM84 for the fuselage sides and lowers. Stripes were masked and painted. This build only took five months instead of my usual decade or two.
The squadron letter “P” departed the left side of the fin sometime between decaling and final clear coat, I’ll get that back on as soon as I can find a replacement.
Thanks to everyone for their encouragement and support on this build, with special thanks to Neil and Seamus! It felt pretty good to get it done. And on April Fool’s Day, no less!

Outstanding. A lot of work for sure, but the results speak for themselves. Only one mistake, the RLM 84 is Aeromaster, not Model Master.

Thanks, everyone! It was an interesting build, to say the least…

Just a question, are the props geared together, or do the just sit and freewheel on a single shaft?
Jaime Carreon said on April 2, 2014
Josh, they just sit together on a single shaft and freewheel.

Jaime, beautiful job on a beautiful machine. The late Griffon Seafire/Spitfire family is one my favorite aircraft types. That contra prop is wicked looking! And I am with you on builds taking a long time, that is my way as well! Many thanks for posting.

Jamie,
Excellent build. The final product came out beautifully. Like some of the comments above, this one my favorite Spits.
