iModeler January Awards
Opening the third year of iModeler's honorary contest it's time to announce our January results. That month brought us 103 new articles and 1697 comments at iModeler.
As usual, we're awarding the Best in Show title to the entry that wins the jury's award, but also list runner-ups as Honorable Mentions. We think that all are great modeling accomplishments that deserve recognition.
iModeler Best in Show - January 2015
The jury's vote goes to Nguyen Huy Hoang's 1/48 A-1H Skyraider from Tamiya. The modeler's attention to detail (which extends to the realistic base framing the model) and finishing talents are apparent in the pictures. We admire all the scrachbuilt detailing that went to this model and the well-balanced finish which both contribute to the great overall result. The iModeler award goes all the way to Vietnam!
Nguyen Huy Hoang's other creations - all of which have been attracting many comments - can be admired at his iModeler blog.
But wait, there is more...
We are also awarding a prize as a token of appreciation to all our contributors. This is selected through an entirely random draw among all the entries of the month. This time, our lucky winner is John Richards with his
BF 109 E-3 Tamiya 1/48 scale. Thank you for bringing all those cool modeling projects to iModeler!

California Steve
A big thumbs up to all and no real surprise on Nguyen's build being "num-bah one". 🙂
Nice work all the way around, Bravo Zulu to all the winners.
Congratulations are in order for Nguyen Huy Hoang’s SPAD. The exhaust staining is convincing and the kit has that down and dirty look of having the bird being fed many quarts of oil for the jugs to burn and through out onto just about everything on the airframe. Which is the trade mark of the SPAD in Nam..
I'm still advocating a "Peoples Choice Award" given that the media doesn't allow an individual to get up close and personal ...one has to judge the presentation of the model by photos. Many clubs have judging events which allow them to examine the model as opposed to viewing some great models that are photographed well. The camera doesn't always tell the truth. Besides lots of social media now has viewer participation or votes ergo hits on the website. Given the level of modeling skill allowing the viewer to participate in a narrow category for what now has become, a international webzine. No monetary award or Model would be needed since folks do have live by budgets. Rather a jury of one's peers should suffice, unless a out side source wishes to donate kits ...
I might add that some folks have not only have done some great modeling but, there has been some good articles that have been written that are worthy of consideration. A vote.
Congratulations all, and especially to Nguyen Huy Hoang for the fantastic Skyraider. Great builds to look at and great inspirations and targets to aim for.
Congratulations to everyone, some inspirational work on display.
Congrats to all the winners! These models are so awe-inspiring.
Nice choice!
congratulations!
Man, I wish I was that good! Good models everybody!
Thank you all for your kind word. I really don't know what to say...as I never thought that my Spad will get a reward.
Nguyen, that's one of the best SPADs I've seen, your prize is well deserved.
So's your Entendard, what's next?
Keep on doing what you're doing, I look forward to seeing whatever it is.
Still looking for inspiration for my next build 😀 ...I might try a Helicopter.
Nguyen, I have been thinking what an extraordinary job you do on every model I have seen you post. Congratulations on your well deserved recognition and award!
Congratulations to all the winners, all well deserved.
