Shizuoka 2015 #4

May 19, 2015 · in Show Reports · · 5 · 3.3K

There were two most interesting tables in Shizuoka this year. The first featured the works of modeler and manga illustrator Tanaka Yoshimi who is using Yakult (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakult) bottles and other food containers to create some absolutely amazing models. He is appropriately calling his series "Yakult Wars".

The model featured in the image number (40) was created by putting together two F-15s and the model in (42) by two Tamiya PT-15 in 1/72. I absolutely love what he is doing and he was a very friendly guy to talk to.

  1. Thank you for sharing this interesting series, which I'm watching with interest. Seems to have been a great show accomodating a wide variety of modeling interests. Which IMHO is always a bonus.

    Looking forward for more

  2. Some amazing craftsmanship displayed here...quite the imagination indeed.

  3. There's a guy here in Norfolk who uses different kit parts to create LARGE models of Star Wars craft. He actually has a nice hardback book in print that shows the techniques. The models on show here look interesting, too.

  4. Brwsing through these photos once again, i think this is some brilliant modeling. The idea of using everyday objects like food packaging for modeling is a potent one, and here it's executed to perfection. And I love the "YAKULT WARS" logo. Really cool.

  5. I love this!
