Yak-3 belonged to the 1st FAR “Normandie Niemen” of the 303th FAD, USSR, AF Pilot Commander of the 1st AS, Lieutenant Marcel Albert, Spring 1945.

Yes it looks like strong lighting on a curved background with forward infill spots. Effective.

Great looking Yak. You have a nice touch for breaking up the large colored areas with a mottled appearance, and nice subtle weathering to blend it in.
The Zvezda kit really catches the "look" of the Yak-3.
I think they're 109 'F' in 1/48 is about the best of the type, and reasonably priced.
I meant to add in my earlier remark about the lighting that I also think this Yak is very well presented.
