iModeler October Awards
We're terribly late with our October retrospective, well past our usual deadline! This depends on two things - our massive (dare I say appreciated?) coverage from Telford, which kept yours truly thoroughly busy until mid-last week, and secondly the extended discussion within our judging committee - @magnusf, @rickard-malmborg, @editor and @halvarvonflake. It just happened to be one of these months when picking up the winner proved more difficult than usual; let me just say that the jury's discussions went on until the very end!
New and would-be members of iModeler please note: Every month, all articles posted among the Headlines are included in our traditional honorary prize draw. We're awarding the Best in Show title to the entry that in the eyes of the jury represents the month's highlight in terms of modeling quality and presentation. In additional to this, we allot a second award to a randomly chosen article. We think that all contributions to this site deserve recognition, so this second prize is a token of appreciation to all authors and all levels of modeling experience that can be encountered here at iModeler.
October brought us a total of 87 new headline articles and 1199 comments.
iModeler Best in Show - October 2015
The jury's vote goes to Korolev Vlad's (@korolev-vlad) 1/43 scale ZIL-130 truck. While the chocie of scale and subject may seem esoteric to many, we liked the way that this classic vehicle of the Soviet era was brought to life with convincing finish and weathering, witnessing not only of the modelers' ability to observe, but also to succesfully transfer these learnings onto the model. Vlad's attention to realism goes down to the addition of a rather basic shed for people transport, adding to the irresistible aura of this little model.
But wait, there is more...
As said before, we are also awarding a prize as a token of appreciation to all our contributors. This is selected through an entirely random draw among all the entries of the month. This time, our lucky winner is Wayne Landis (@spotlandis) with his <a href="http://imodeler.com/2015/10/tamiya-5th-air-force-f-16/"%5DTamiya 5th Air Force F-16.

I too liked this build. It's possibly an unusual offering for this site, with its strong aircraft contingent, but it was a quality project, well-executed and with inventive and convincing finishes.
Well done to all.
Congrats to everyone mentioned (and to ALL modelers who posted their builds) - a tough choice to make for sure.
Well done to all, yet another hard task to choose a winner.
Very unexpected! I am very pleased! Thank you!
That's because! So many aircraft did, and received the award for the truck.
Sincerely, Vlad.
That's one of the best vehicle models I have ever seen. It looks like you found a real one and hit it with shrink spray.
Great modeling everyone! What a great lineup of talent.
California Steve
