Pre-war Spitfire
Having completed my Battle of Britain series I decided to actually build something for myself for a change. I settled on building some pre-war Spitfires using the new Airfix Mk1kit in 1:48 and here is the first one built as one of 19 Squadron's aircraft after the adoption of the WZ codes. With its two blade prop, simple gun sight and pre-war markings it looks quite different to most Spitfires. I'm intending to do the earlier colours scheme soon with silver underneath and the red/white/blue/yellow roundels.
The kit is built out of the box apart from the instrument panel (Yahu) and seatbelts (Eduard). All paint is GSI Creos except for the flat finish which is Microscale.
I've posted this on Hyperscale too and I've put big versions of the pictures there if anyone would like to see them:
Lovely beautiful job with this kit Alan, love every single bit of it. I've only just managed to get the new Hurricane and Spitfire MK.Vb and both look awesome. Top job, thanks for posting 🙂
Really nice work, Alan...the detail is spectacular.
Great looking build, Alan. And brave of you to mention the 'H' word on this site!?
...not that this is any problem from the official standpoint... 🙂
very impressive early spitfire top build and paint i'm LIKE.
Very nice and clean built! I really like early birds 🙂
Very nice. That Airfix kit is just great. I've done one BoB scheme, am going to do Bader's Mk.II and a pre-war also.
Nice build Alan, a Spitfire is a Spitfire, an iconic plane.
Well done sir.
Very nice. Great job.
This is really a nice looking build. Your paint finish is very well done, as they are on your other postings as well. Very good work, I have visited this posting more than once.
Hi everyone, just wanted to say a big 'thanks' to you all for the great comments you left about this build, its much appreciated!
Great looking Spit!
Sublime. And excellent.
