Airfix 1/72 P-40CU and P-40B

May 9, 2016 · in Aviation · · 9 · 1.8K

Hello again, I just finished this double project. Kits were improved with resin accesories: wheels, exhausts, gun cannons on wings, wheel doors and propellers. Other improvements were done in the cockpit but most visible ones are the reflector for the gunsight and the armored glass on the P-40B cockpit. I also made the changes in the details to build a correct P-40CU.

I´m depicting the CU ship at a very early stage in its service life hence is rather clean and nice looking, while the B aircraft shows a bird with more hours, I also wanted to show the change in markings that happened on those times.

  1. Beautiful brace of Warhawks! Love the weathering on the B. I'm in the middle of building one now (an N). Love the Warhawk - such an iconic shape and so many versions and liveries to choose from!

  2. Good looking double!

  3. Great job on a great aircraft.

  4. Impressive builds in any scale...more so in that scale - excellent work!

  5. VERY cool...I loves P-40's of all types, it looks like Airfix reallly got the shapes right. Nice builds, can't wait for Airfix's 1/48. Sure hope we get to see it.

  6. Bill, and so say all of us! I hear that Bronco is also doing an early P-40. And the race is on! I'm not ditching my old Monograms, yet, mind you.
We might end up doing a FrankenTomahawk, let's hope it doesn't come to that.
Hmmm, wonder if I could splice a P-37 together... That 72nd recently piqued my interest.

  7. 🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Very nice work on those two models. Nice too se a P-40 duo, one can see the evolution of this aircraft in this way.

  8. Thank you all for your comments.
