IPMS Nationals South Africa 2016
Hey Guy’s, what a great week end, went to the Nationals with a mate of mine who loves to build armor, we traveled about 350Km to get to the venue at Bloemfontein, driving as carefully as we could as the back of my car was full of models, packed at various attitudes so that we could get them all in. We left my house at 04h00 am.
We arrived at about 8h00 in the morning and had an hour to get the entry’s entered.
We spent the whole day at the show and then decided to get accommodation for the night, after a BBQ ( we call it a braai over here) in the evening.
Prize giving was on Sunday and then the drive home. It was a great event with about 400 models entered in various classes.
I was very pleased with the results I achieved, I managed a 1st and 2nd for 1/32 Propeller, a 2nd place in 1/32 Jets, a 1st for helicopters and I got the best on show. I am very happy indeed.
Hope you enjoy the pictures, it will give you an idea of how we build on the southern tip of Africa.
Cheers
Marc

Congratulations Marc! From what I could see, there was some pretty stiff competition, so to have earned the acclaim you did means you did some awesome work!
My South African son-in-law has introduced me to several new terms, braai being my favorite to partake of! He’s pretty good at it, too – side benefit of kids marrying well!

Thanks Greg, The quality of the models were outstanding, the competition was really stiff, the points were really close.
Yes, and the Braai was good as well. Now I just have to get my Daughter to marry sum one from the US, then I can also have a BBQ . Cheers Greg

Yeah if you get a chance, post up pics of your winning entries, at least the BIS.

Hey Bill, The Extra 330 SC won best Props as well as Best of the show, totally unexpected, The Westland Wessex won Best Helicopter, with the Mirage 3 BZ, and Harvard coming in second in Jets and Props. A good week end considering that the last IPMS Nationals I entered was 8 Years ago.
Thanks for the comments.
